The Dreamer 1991-1996

The Dreamer series, called Josephine in its earlier, more colourful stages, reworks the Old Testament story of Joseph and the coat of many colours. It turned into a six-year project with two major exhibitions in 1993 and 1996, both in Montreal. Using the biblical story of Joseph, complete with sibling rivalry, false identity, separation and reconciliation, as a basis, I changed the gender of the hero from Joseph to Josephine, who I then associated with myself, my daughter, the artist, the dreamer. The Josephine series was exhibited in 1993 at the Galerie Michel Tetrault in 1993. In 1996 the series, now, The Dreamer, was reworked in darker tones and shown at the Galerie de Bellefeuille.
