Blindman's Buff 1988 - 1989

Blindman's Buff was painted not around a text, but a single painting: Francisco Goya's Blind Man's Buff (1791). Painting in the context of European revolution, Goya shows us the aristocracy engaged in a childish game of blindman's buff, choosing deliberate blindness to the struggles surrounding them. In my series, what one sees and what one refuses to look at are portrayed in moments of extreme discomfort in contemporary mise en scènes.
